Dr. Paul Ratte - Headshot

Dr. Paul Ratté

Paul Ratté, ND is a naturopathic doctor and an assistant professor of clinical nutrition at Northwestern Health Sciences University. With one foot in the clinic and one foot in research, he offers his patients and students a balance between the art and science of nutrition. With much humility and curiosity, he takes a detective approach in the clinic with often complex patients. Functional medicine is the playing field where he integrates the patient’s experience with objective data to find an approach that validates and empowers them to redirect their story towards health. His research interests include clinically relevant biochemistry, carbohydrate tolerance, the human microbiome, adrenal function, and the challenges of nutritional epidemiology.

Paul graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, with a degree in communication studies before completing his doctor of naturopathic medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR in 1997. He has conducted clinical research with the Functional Medicine Research Center in Gig Harbor, WA and is an active member of the MN Association of Naturopathic Physicians. His research interests include carbohydrate tolerance, the human microbiome, and the challenges of nutritional epidemiology.
